A nice impression on strong laid paper.

The plates of the Antiche Statue are signed by Francesco Piranesi, dated between 1769 and 1792, after drawings by Corazzari, Roccheggiani, Angeletti, Piroli or Nocchi. They depict the most famous ancient statuary, from the Apollo of Belvedere to the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius. They are dedicated to Pope Pius VI, to great dignitaries, art lovers and patrons: the count of Creutz, Count Potocki, Prince Yussupoff, Duke Braschi Onesti, Count von Düben, Duke of Sudermania, Girolamo Zulian Ambassador at Venice, Poetess Catherine Dolfin, & c.

Condition: full margins. Foxing principally visible by transparency, a soft watermark.
