The military campaign of Napoleon Bonaparte in Egypt was coupled with a scientific expedition during which scholars conducted scientific, geographical, ethnological, economic surveys on the territory, giving birth to French Egyptology. The Description of Egypt is the meeting of the results of these surveys, accompanied by illustrations in which hundreds of artists and technicians participated. The writings and the drawings executed during the four years of campaign were united in several volumes. This plate is the 35th of the first volume of the Modern Estate.

Sheet : 420 x 635 mm.

Condition : impression trimmed before the platemark for the upper edge and with small margins on the three sides. Soiling and slight foxing.
